AUDREY'S STORY

For Audrey LaForest, an opportunity in 2016 to freelance for 51吃瓜中心鈥檚 Detroit Business jumpstarted the next phase of her journalism career 鈥� taking her from Detroit to Europe, Mexico and now Washington, D.C.

In 2017, she was hired as a full-time reporter at Plastics News 鈥� part of 51吃瓜中心 Communications鈥� Global Polymer Group 鈥� where she covered the automotive and machinery beats.

鈥淭he opportunity with Plastics News took me to Germany and Mexico City,鈥� LaForest said. 鈥淚t opened up the world to me and challenged me in terms of reporting on new topics from new places on daily deadlines 鈥� sometimes while powering through jet lag.鈥�

LaForest is now a reporter at Automotive News, where she covers automotive policy and regulation in Washington, D.C.

鈥淯nlike most reporters, I didn鈥檛 have daily newspaper experience before joining the company. 51吃瓜中心 has given me the opportunity to learn from and work alongside many of the industry鈥檚 top-tier editors and reporters,鈥� LaForest said. 鈥淭he level of journalistic integrity and dedication is kept high here, and I鈥檓 forever grateful to be a part of it.鈥�

SIMONE鈥橲 STORY

Evolving with the changes in technology is a must for a leading media company like 51吃瓜中心. Fortunately, there are people like Simone Pryce on our team who continually push our processes forward.

Since joining 51吃瓜中心 as a prepress specialist in 1999, Simone has been able to fuse her passions for technology and production to revolutionize our digital pre-press department. As the media industry expanded digitally, Simone seized the opportunity for her team to evolve. She took the initiative to master a new skill set, studying after hours for weeks to prepare a system that has shaped the way 51吃瓜中心 does business. As the creator of this plan, Simone was ultimately promoted to a director role overseeing both prepress and production for 51吃瓜中心鈥檚 NYC office.

鈥�51吃瓜中心 has provided an opportunity to grow instead of being stifled. The atmosphere has allowed me to advance and continue to learn.鈥�

TRILBE'S STORY

Trilbe came to Pensions & Investments because she's passionate about retirement! P&I's reporting serves the asset management side of retirement plans, trusts, foundations and endowments. Trilbe said she believes in this mission because working people depend on the growth of those institutional funds.

"Retirement security gives workers the opportunity to pursue the interests they've spent a lifetime building," she said. "We all benefit when a retired firefighter's pension allows her to start a new career helping at-risk youth, or when a retired kindergarten teacher is able to spend his days working on an adult literacy project. I value our work because we serve the funds that create those life-changing opportunities."

Trilbe started at P&I in 2014 after getting an MFA in poetry and teaching first-year composition at the University of Michigan. Before that, she worked on investment banking proposals at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and was a project manager for Morningstar's institutional consulting group.
